We Have Arrived.

Hello Melbourne
We have finally arrived in Melbourne and we have been here for a few days now. I am loving every minute already!

We have been staying in a suburb just out of the city called Elwood and it is really lovely. It has loads of cute little cafes and shops and our little apartment is about a ten minute walk to the beach. We are thinking of finding a permanent apartment in or around this area because it is just so nice.

Temporary Apartment in Elwood

On our first day in Australia, which was on Thursday, we were so jet lagged but we managed to have a little walk around the area and we did a little food shop in Coles which is just down the road. I ended up going to bed at like 7 o'clock because I just couldn't stay awake any longer!

On Friday we had a coffee/tea in a little cafe down the road from our apartment and then we went for a drive into the city but everything was closed because it was Good Friday. We then decided we would drive around some of the suburbs and ended up driving all the way down the coast on Beach Road which was just beautiful.

In the evening we met up with a guy called Paul who is friends with Lewis' brother and he took us out in St Kilda which was really fun. We went to a bar called Big Mouth and it was great! We didn't end up leaving until around 1am, but at least we got over our jet lag!

The next day we woke up pretty early and decided to go on the train into the city. The trains are so cheap here! It cost like $3.00 to get into the city and you use Myki cards to pay (which are a bit like Oyster cards in London). The train journey was about 20 minutes and really didn't feel that long at all.

We spent a few hours walking around Melbourne CBD then decided to walk along the Southbank which led to this outlet shopping centre called DFO. It was massive and the shops were amazing! It didn't take long to get out of the city either and before we knew it we were walking back to our apartment.

Yesterday we met my cousin Lisa's friend Roni for breakfast at Elwood Food & Wine Bar, she literally lives around the corner to us which is handy. Roni was lovely and we are going out with her again tonight. We did a big food shop in Aldi which was so much cheaper than Coles and we got some really nice stuff. At around 3 o'clock we met up with Paul again and we walked around St Kilda and then past Luna Park to St Kilda Beach. We walked all the way along to the pier and then went to see the tiny penguins which live at the end of the pier! They are so cute! After our walk we spent the rest of the day in an outdoor bar called Republica drinking cider and watching the sun go down on the beach. I could get used to this life!

Today we are going to look around some more suburbs and places to live and then we are going to a rooftop bar called Naked For Satan with Roni which I am excited for as apparently it has lovely views of the city from up there!

Hope you enjoyed reading about my first few days in Melbourne and I will write some more soon I promise!
